Case Study: Kirsten J. Parker

“If we over-index on what other people are thinking, we don't end up making the best decision, because we're making a decision out of fear and worry—I don't do that anymore. I make the best decisions because I'm not worried about what every single other person in my life is going to think about the decision. That has been so freeing. I’m much more calm as a person. I feel much more confident. Collected. I feel like decisions don't take up 90% of my brain anymore. Kirsten's coaching was so organized and so well structured, and there was always learning along with it. I think as a kind of Type A personality, I always appreciated that. So as a recovering overthinker, when it comes to decision-making, I am so, so pleased with what's happened in the last three months. I feel like it's three years of professional development condensed down into three months of just this glowing, beautiful gift that I received.”

What kind of decision maker do you consider yourself to be?

“Calm, confident, enlightened, clean.”

What were your 3 biggest challenges/blocks/issues before working with KP Coaching?

“What I really wanted help with was I had been struggling with this decision whether or not to leave my corporate job. I'd been there 22 years. I tried to make this decision in a million different ways before, and I just couldn't, I couldn't be confident that I knew I was making the right decision.

“I just had a million excuses. Looking back now after Kirsten's coaching, I had a million excuses. I had a million different things I thought I needed to prove out, before I made that decision. In the past, I had made some decisions that took me years to make, that ended up being good decisions, but I knew I needed to have a way to make decisions more quickly and more efficiently and more effectively, and to feel good about the decisions that I made.”

What did your daily life look like before working with KP Coaching?

“I think I was so at the end of this fried rope of trying to make this big decision, but also knowing that me not being able to commit to decisions or make decisions was affecting my relationships. I was just so desperate to learn something new. I've read every self-help book. I had meditated, I had prayed, I had, you know, taken a year off. I've done all these things that were like ‘the right things to do,’ but nothing seemed to be working.”

Why did you choose KP Coaching?

“I knew I needed coaching from someone who had a plan, a structure, a system – for how to make decisions, feel good about them, and make them quickly and not be so fearful.”

What does your daily life look like now after working with KP Coaching?

“If we over-index on what other people are thinking, we don't end up making the best decision. Because we're making a decision out of fear and worry, and I don't do that anymore. I make the best decisions because I'm not worried about what every single other person in my life is going to think about the decision. I'm not worried about ‘What does it mean about me’ and ‘Who I am because of decision X.’ So that has been so freeing.

“I am much more calm as a person. I feel much more confident. Collected. I feel like decisions don't take up 90% of my brain anymore. Maybe it's back down to a healthier percentage. I don't know, 10%. Something that's like, enough to make a good decision, but not enough to take over my entire life and entire brain. So as a recovering over-thinker, when it comes to decision-making, I am so, so pleased with what's happened in the last three months. I feel like its three years of professional development condensed down into three months of just this glowing, beautiful gift that I received.”

Did you break through those challenges? What are the results?

“The coaching helped me see who I am, some of the kind of ‘practical pitfalls’ I was having in the past, and how I might move forward. And it’s been life-changing.”
